Sssshhhh…We Don’t Talk about Hemorrhoids!I am a mother of two with another one on the way, and do you know what I realized? Hemorrhoids are the red-headed step-child of pregnancy symptoms! But what a lot of women don’t realize is that hemorrhoids shouldn’t be kept a secret. The symptoms that you are assuming are hemorrhoids might actually warrant a colonoscopy because hemorrhoids and colon cancer share the same symptoms. That fact alone means we women should be discussing hemorrhoids right alongside of morning sickness and heartburn.

Junk in the Trunk

Junk In The Trunk

I recently became a grandmother for the first time. Waiting for this sweet little bundle to arrive, I climbed into the attic to search for family heirlooms and baby things to pass down. I wish I could say it was a cool old trunk like in the movies, but my precious memories are stored in a giant Tupperware tub and stuck up under boxes of Halloween and Christmas decorations.

I did, however, have a Chevy Chase in “Christmas Vacation” moment like the scene where he’s stuck in the attic looking at old movies and reminiscing. I found several family treasures to pass along to our son for his new baby boy. Blankets, stuffed animals and even some photos.

I love to go through old photos and stories that our family has passed down. My mother was the family historian, doing years of research on our family tree and then actually taking the time to write the stories down in book form. It is one of my most priced possessions. (more…)
